Volunteering

Volunteering is an excellent way to gain skills and experience while making a real impact. Here we've curated a few volunteering opportunities from across the UK:

STEM Learning is looking for Climate Ambassadors from a broad range of backgrounds to help deliver meaningful change on sustainability and climate change within the education system.

Climate Ambassadors work with nurseries, schools and colleges to develop climate action plans. Climate action plans will be designed to bring together all the work that education settings are doing on sustainability and climate change. They will cover decarbonisation, adaptation and resilience, biodiversity and climate education and green careers.

You don’t need to be an expert in all these topics- you can focus your time working on things that align with your experience. You'll be provided with training and development to help you make the most of your skills, and there will be opportunities for you to work with the leaders, staff, young people and governors within your paired educational setting.

As a STEM Ambassador, you'll offer your time, passion, and energy to visit schools, colleges, and youth group organisations to deliver a range of requests from teachers and youth group leaders who want to link STEM subjects to the real world of work.

Volunteers do not need to have a background in education. STEM Learning offer training and support to enable Ambassadors to confidently deliver a range of activities to young people, including career talks.

If you have a passion to inspire the next generation in STEM, whether you are self-employed or work for a small, medium, or large STEM organisation, you can join the STEM Ambassador community!

Are you passionate about urban trees and the environment? Do you enjoy taking photos, drawing illustrations or creating content for social media?

King's Trust Programme Delivery Volunteers work directly with groups of young people to help build and maintain their confidence, skills, motivation, and wellbeing. You might be helping Trust colleagues in the areas of planning, delivery or facilitation of group sessions and activities, bringing your expertise to enhance the experience for our young people.

Volunteering will normally take place at a King’s Trust delivery centres in both Southampton and Portsmouth.

By volunteering with Programme Delivery you will be directly impacting young people who will benefit from your knowledge and expertise.

In return for your valuable time, King's Trust provide the benefits of being part of a dedicated community of colleagues and volunteers, the satisfaction of directly impacting their success, and the undoubted personal development and pleasure that comes from working for the cause of, or directly with, children and young people, the majority of whom face significant barriers and have significant challenges to overcome.

King's Trust Education Mentors support groups of young people in an educational setting to develop their confidence and skills and support their future employability. What the role involves

By volunteering to be an Education Mentor, you will be helping to shape the next generation. You will be working with groups of young people who are taking part in The King’s Trust programmes.

Training consists of completing online self-led modules, attending an online webinar and face-to face programme specific training with your dedicated Youth Development Lead.

All of the sessions will be face-to-face in the school or a King’s Trust Centre. There will be some preparation to do before these sessions (i.e., planning content or reading a fellow mentor’s delivery plan) so mentors will need to be well organised. A successful volunteer will feel comfortable and confident planning and delivering sessions to a group of up to 12 young people as well as leading smaller conversations and breakout activities.
